What are Discount Codes on Dines?

Discount codes are alphanumeric codes that customers can enter during the checkout process to receive a specified percentage-based discount.

Discounts can apply to the whole bill or specific items on the menu. Discount codes are limited to your venue and can be disabled at any time.

What controls do I have for Discount Codes?

Discount Codes can be set up to your liking - the parameters that can be adjusted are as follows:

Applies to the Full Menu OR just items marked as Discount Applicable;
Applies to Eat-in OR Collection OR Delivery, OR All order types;
Applies always OR only applies at specific days/times;
The percentage discount that is applied - from 5% to 50% in increments of 5%.
The alphanumeric code that customers can enter (we advise to make this as short as possible, but make it hard to guess!); and
What message to display on the receipt when successfully applied (e.g. 'Staff 25% Discount').

How do I set up a Discount Code?

1. Click the Settings tab in your Dashboard

2. Navigate to the 'Discounts' tab at the top

3. Click 'Add discount'

4. Fill out Discount Code parameters as required & click ' Create' in the top right corner.

Managing Discount Codes

To disable a Discount Code, you can either select/deselect 'Active' in the top right corner of the 'Create Discount' entry box, or you can delete a Discount Code permanently.

We advise disabling over deleting so that historical Discount Codes can be enabled easily, should you need them in the future.

Using Discount Codes for training

A common use of Discount Codes is a 100% discount for staff training so that unlimited orders can be processed without charge.

To create a training code, please speak to a member of the Dines team as your Dashboard is limited to a maximum of 50% off for any Discount Code.
