Menu tips & tricks
Increase sales of popular and high margin items
Menu items can be added to a number of different categories. After running experiments, we have found that categories combining popular items at the top of the menu increase sales of those items by more than 5%.
To try this, simply create a new category named 'Favourites' or something similar, and assign this category to the top position.
Click into the Menu Items you want to add and assign them to your new Category (as well as the Category they are currently in).
Catch customer attention with your Menu Gallery
Adding a series of images to your gallery is a great way to showcase some engaging content to your customers - often a picture of a clearly labelled, mouthwatering dish at the top of the menu can actually influence what customers decide to order!
Want to take your menu to the next level? Why not add a moving GIF image to the gallery too. You can find more information on adding to your gallery here.
Use Modifiers to cross-sell and up-sell products
Modifiers are a powerful way to give customers options to upgrade their items or suggest complementary products.
Prices are displayed as the additional amount required to upgrade the current item or purchase a second item, which increases the likely hood of the sale. This can serve to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
For example, we found that offering an upgrade to a drink as a modifier rather than a second drink option increased sales of the upgraded version by over 400%!
Add a 'Special/Popular items' Category
We recommend to all our venues that they set up a Special or Popular items category to the top of their menu.
Monthly or weekly specials can encourage your regular customers to stray from their normal menu items and consider trying something new. Popular items are also a great way to introduce new customers to your venue and items that they will be eager to try!
