Stock: Linking Ingredients
Linking Ingredients to Items on the Dines Stock system is the final step in making sure your Stock is tracked accurately. It involves specifying exact amounts on each Ingredient used per Item, and is crucial for running a well-organised stock system.
Stock is currently in its "Early Access" phase, and can only be enabled or disabled at account level by Dines. Contact us at care@dines.co.uk if you would like to use Stock, and we'll be delighted to activate it for you.
Before you proceed, it is recommended that you first add all of your Ingredients using the instructions in the "Creating Ingredients" article. This will save time and ensure that you have everything you need.

Linking Ingredients to Items
Head to your "Menu" by clicking the icon on the left, which is positioned above Stock.
Navigate to the "Items" tab at the top of the page, where you'll see a full list of all the Items at your venue. If you want to search for a specific Item, you can do so at the top of the page.
Click on the Item, then navigate to the "Ingredients" tab up top. If no Ingredients have been linked yet, you'll see "No Recipe Ingredients", so you've got a fresh slate to work from.
Click on "Add Ingredients". A mini-window will pop up, featuring all of your Ingredients in alphabetical order. If you've got lots of Ingredients, use the Search bar at the top of the window.
Click on whichever Ingredients you wish to add to this Item. This will tick the box to the left of each one, indicating that it has been selected.
Choose "Link Ingredients" at the bottom to finalise your choices. The window will close automatically, and your Ingredients will be listed with all of the information you've provided previously.
Add the exact quantities needed for each Ingredient in the "Recipe QTY" column. This is the one column that isn't filled in automatically, and it's the one that needs your attention to keep Stock tracked accurately.
Click "Save" at the bottom to ensure that your changes aren't lost.
For example, on a burger with two beef patties, you'd put the number "2" in the Recipe QTY where the base unit is set to "Each". For an ingredient like Spicy Pepper Jack Cheese measured in grams, you'd enter "30" in the Recipe QTY column to record 30g.
You will need to do this for every Item you sell, but you'll only have to do it once, unless the Ingredients for an Item change in future.
Linking Ingredients to Modifiers
It's also possible to link ingredients to Modifiers. This works the exact same way as above, with one extra step: navigate to "Modifier Sets" within the item, then choose the Modifier Set and Modifier you wish to link ingredients to.
This is especially useful for a modifier that adds or removes ingredients from the original item. For example, for a modifier such as "Remove Chipotle Mayo", add Chipotle Mayo as an ingredient, then change the Action to "Remove".
You can also choose how much of the ingredient to remove by editing the "Stock Level" on the same line. This lets you remove any percentage of the ingredient, so you can fully customise any Item and Ingredient combination to your liking.
